As extreme weather events and flood risk continue to rise across the UK, the need for effective, practical and readily available property flood resilience (PFR) solutions has never been greater. Fernco is pleased to announce it has recently become an official member of the International Property Flood Resilience Association (IPFRA), reinforcing its long-standing commitment to supporting builders’ merchants nationwide.

A key focus of Fernco’s IPFRA membership is supporting builders’ merchants as a critical access point for flood resilience products. By strengthening product knowledge, technical understanding and confidence at branch level, Fernco aims to help merchants supply appropriate solutions for both commercial and domestic applications, supporting proactive protection rather than reactive repair.

“Builders’ merchants play a vital role in protecting communities,” explains Ryan Lockwood, National Sales and Marketing Manager at Fernco. “By joining the IPFRA, we are strengthening our commitment to supporting merchants with practical flood resilience solutions, underpinned by recognised standards, education and industry collaboration. Our objective is to help make flood prevention products more accessible, better understood and more widely available through the merchant channel.”

The IPFRA mission is to represent the Property Flood Resilience industry – including manufacturers, installers, distributors, surveyors, consultants, and sector stakeholders with a shared mission to promote practice, raise professional standards and to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to lead, influence and support mainstreaming of property flood resilience.

Fernco’s membership provides recognised industry affiliation, demonstrating its commitment to operate in line with established codes, standards and best practice while contributing to the continued development of the sector.

Shelley Evans, a founding director of IPFRA and chair of IPFRA’s Marketing, Membership and Communications sub-group, said: “We extend a warm welcome to Fernco as IPFRA continues to establish its position as the collective voice of the property flood resilience industry. We are delighted to bring together reputable organisations who are committed to advancing and mainstreaming property flood resilience and supporting our overall shared mission.”

Already long-established  and trusted for their expertise in water management, drainage and flood protection solutions, Fernco’s membership with the IPFRA will help develop deeper knowledge for the trade to help manage surface water, prevent backflow and support property-level flood mitigation. In addition, the expert team at Fernco will now contribute a greater active role in addressing the growing challenges posed by flooding, working alongside industry peers to raise awareness and support education.

With an extensive product range that is practical, compliant, and – most importantly – straightforward to specify and install, Fernco is ideally suited to distribution through builders’ merchants, making preventative water management and flood control solutions accessible to both professional installers and homeowners.

Their IPFRA membership complements Fernco’s wider engagement with trade associations and buying groups, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking supplier invested in long-term industry improvement and collective action to address environmental challenges with effective, compliant and commercially viable solutions.

For builders’ merchants, Fernco’s involvement with the IPFRA provides enhanced access to trusted expertise, increased confidence in flood resilience solutions and a stronger role in supporting the trade and homeowners in managing flood risk.
