Objective:
Prevent the nearby marshland from overflowing and flooding the customer’s yard.

Solution:
Fernco’s Non-Return Valve were installed into multiple 4” pipe outlets along a newly built wall between the property and the recently flooded area.

In Newark, a business owner was having problem with a nearby marshland regularly overflowing and flooding the properties’ yard, where equipment and materials are stored. In an effort to stop their outside stock from being damaged, the owner built a concrete wall, however there were multiple 4” gully’s that lay between the yard’s underground drainage system and marshland.

To prevent any backflow during flooding, Jacob Pashley, Fernco Area Sales Manager, proposed the Fernco Non-Return Valves (NRVs) to be installed. NRV’s are WRc approved and ensures the prevention of backflow, with its unique patened shape to aid flow, it allows sewer or surface water materials to freely flow through the pipe but blocks backflow of any debris in the opposite direction in instances, such as flooding. Within the next week, the business owner made an order based on Jacob’s recommendation. Installation took place soon after, with Jacob providing onsite support; with the installation taking less than an hour, because of the NRVs effortless pushfit design.

Over 25 NRVs were installed around the property, to prevent backflow flooding from the rising water levels which surround the yard.

The customer was extremely pleased with the effectiveness of the NRVs, as it was saving the company money and preventing their stock from being damaged. The NRVs also ensured the owner that they would not be dealing with any unwanted pests, that could travel up the pipe systems during colder months.
