The BS1401 pipe manufacturers’ couplings were not suitable for the ground conditions as the seal is EPDM to BS EN 681-1:1996 and the specification for this project was for Chemical Couplings.
Further investigation carried out by Fernco identified that a cost saving could be offered on the project by supplying Nitrile couplings whilst still providing a reliable, chemically resistant seal and connection.
This change in specification was welcomed by the contractor and subsequently the client as the savings achieved were improved by 50% compared to the original products specified.
Fernco supplied the project from our large stock holding of Nitrile Couplings, meaning the quick lead times and flexible delivery options could be offered.
